In 2019, a few months after the release of Lover, I set out on an adventure to capture each of Taylor Swift’s albums through self-portraiture. At the time, only seven albums were out, and I didn’t know just how much would change in the months and years to come. I did my best to embody both the feelings of the albums and the covers as well. Most of those first self-portraits were taken in ridiculous conditions, either sweltering heat or over the top outfits. A few of them were set up by me and taken by my close friends. (Still counts!) I never intended to continue the project, especially because I stopped taking self-portraits for about three years, but then I realized I accidentally on purpose set-up a photo for evermore. Following the Eras Tour and a desire to take more self-portraits in 2024, I took up the torch once again, hoping to fill in the gaps and immortalize her recent releases. These photos capture the magic of Taylor that I’ve been chasing for over half my life, and I love that I can now see different versions of myself as this project ages.
